May & June Newsletter 2026
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?” (Isaiah 43:19)
As we move from spring into summer, not only does creation see a “new thing” but so does the ministry of Woods Outreach!
What’s the latest
May brought the start of the May-July Language Class session, which started with a great group of new and returning students. This is the first time in the 3 years of teaching that we have maintained such high attendance every week (average of 18/week). It has been a real encouragement to see the effort and commitment on the part of these students. With the new session, we established some guidelines in acquiring a notebook of instruction, and the students have worked hard to acquire the class materials to keep working on their language studies in between classes. On May 13th, those who took the trip to Spain were able to reproduce part of that trip and give each student a “taste of Spain”. I was so proud of them using their Spanish and sharing what they gleaned from their overseas experience! In addition to a full-time TA, we gained a new volunteer this session who assists with new and/or Latin students as needed. On a sad note, one of our new students suddenly passed away a week after joining us. She was 76.
May also brought our first-ever Mother’s Day event which we held at the local Mexican restaurant that hosted us in December for our caroling event. We were able to shower some 30 restaurant patrons with beautiful Mother’s Day gifts and Christian resources. This growing relationship is a blessing as the restaurant manager offers us her generous support while promoting Woods Outreach to the local Latin community!
